Singer-songwriters Local Haunts (David Janzen, London, ON) and Vicky Berg (Edmonton, AB) live at The Almanac.

$10. Doors at 7:30. Music at 8:30.

A long-dead philosopher once wrote that we make our own history, but we must do so under the heavy weight of the past, haunted always by what has come before. Drawing on time-honored folk-country melodies, modern poetry and the gritty rhythms of prairie cities, Local Haunts explores these haunted histories. Not the big narratives but the tiny, everyday histories—of desire and upheaval, of longing and leaving.

VICKY BERG:!/artists/Vicky-Berg

Vicky Berg has taken the lights and smoke from the city and played them into songs. Her music is distinct and powerful, driven by Vicky's seasoned piano and guitar playing; pushed further still by her playful, yet fiery vocals. She mingles the likes of jazz, folk, rock and blues, into her own flavour of sound—with lyrics that take listeners on an enticing journey through her introspective world.
